The musician, singer and composer Zaher Assaf comes from Damaskus/ Syria. He studied classical and oriental music at the Music Academy of the Syrian University in Damaskus with the most renowned teachers. During his studies he was a member of the Syrian National Philharmonic Orchestra and other ensembles. Among others, he also worked with many famous artist in the Arabic world – like Wadiaa el Safy. (Arabic lute) and persuccion. All these experiences made him an extraordinary musician, singer and composer.

 

Since 1994, Zaher Assay has lived in Europe. After originally moving to Germany, he has lived in Switzerland the past three years.
